đ While it may seem like a distant concern or even a taboo topic, planning your own funeral can be a profound act of love for those you leave behind. It also ensures your final farewell goes according to your wishes. In my own encounters, I've observed the relief and comfort it brings to the bereaved family when their loved ones had previously outlined their funeral arrangements. It alleviates the burden of making difficult choices during a time of grief and guarantees honouring the person's preferences.Based on the data from Google, a striking 62% of Americans haven't made any funeral arrangements yet.đŽ Further, only 17% have shared their arrangements with family members. This suggests a significant gap in communication and planning that could lead to unnecessary stress during already difficult times.đBut remember, itâs never too late to start this conversation! If you decide to plan ahead, consider the type of service, location, and memorial details that resonate with your life story.đ â¤ď¸And now, over to you - have you considered detailing your own funeral plans? Or perhaps your culture offers unique perspectives on this? I'd love to hear your thoughts. đ¤#FuneralPlanning #EndOfLifeCare #FamilyCommunication #PersonalPreference #PlanningAhead #LifeDecisions

In December a friend of mine died unexpectedly and her family asked me to help make the funeral arrangements. Before visiting the funeral home, I went over some different questions that I knew would come up. I wanted the family to prepped ahead of time. When we got to the funeral home and the funeral director started asking questions, he was met with silence. It was as if, the family couldn't comprehend the things that they were being asked. I would then reword the question, subtly reminding them of what we had already talked about and then it would click and they could give their thoughts. Shock, stress, and anguish were creating major roadblocks in the planning process. Of course there were roadblocks. Sitting in a funeral home, planning a funeral for your wife, daughter, friend is an unreal experience. This experience has inspired me to develop tools to help families through this process, to be proactive, to plan ahead. As a human, we often fall into a bit of magical thinking...thinking that somehow, we are never going to be the ones planning a funeral for a loved one. Spoilers, we can't avoid the inevitable. I'm excited to share what I've been working on, be on the lookout for future announcements. #humanexperience #hospice #funeral #sharedexperiences #life #lifeafterloss #success #planning #comingsoon #toolsforsuccess #toolsforlife

Just a quick share from a situation I'm currently working on with a client, hoping it brings comfort to those going through a tough time. So, a family member has passed and the ashes are ready for collection. The spouse, understandably emotional, is hesitant about this final step. A compassionate family member steps in to offer support, recognizing the difficulty in facing this moment.Grieving is a unique journey and picking up the ashes can feel like turning the page to the next chapter, a bittersweet closure. What I want to emphasize is that it's okay to seek assistance during this emotional process. Funeral directors are incredibly supportive, but it's essential that you feel comfortable and at peace with your decisions.Sometimes, people might delay picking up the ashes and that's perfectly fine. Funeral directors often keep them safe, understanding that the timing needs to be right. Grief doesn't follow a rulebook, so if something feels right for you, trust your instincts â not just in this situation, but in life in general.Don't go through it alone. Reach out to friends, family, or even neighbours who would be willing to accompany you to the funeral director. The support you receive can make a world of difference. Whether you decide to memorialize your loved one or keep the ashes at home, take each day as it comes.Remember, you're not alone in this journey. Feel free to ask questions or share your experiences â we're here for each other. Wishing you strength and comfort during these challenging times.#GriefSupport #YouAreNotAlone #MemoriesLiveOn #StrengthInCommunity

Let's talk about funeral planning â not the most cheerful topic, but definitely an important one. Planning your funeral might not be on the top of your to-do list, but it's an important part of taking care of your loved ones when you're no longer around.First off, planning ahead saves your family a ton of stress during an already emotional time. Imagine if they had to make all those decisions while grieving your loss. Spare them from having to figure it all out on their own.But it's not just about easing their burden â it's also about making sure your wishes are honored. Whether you prefer a traditional service, a celebration of life, or something entirely different, planning ahead ensures that your funeral reflects your personality and values. So, while it might not be the most pleasant task, funeral planning is a responsible and caring thing to do for your loved ones. It's a final gift you can give them, ensuring that they can focus on remembering and honoring you instead of worrying about the details.#glastonburyestaeplanning#khklaw
