A tragic explosion at a police station in Indian-administered Kashmir has left nine people dead and 32 injured. The incident occurred on Friday evening at the Nowgam police station, where a stockpile of confiscated explosives accidentally blew up. The region's director general of police, Nalin Prabhat, confirmed that the explosives were being sent for forensic examination but detonated due to a mishap during handling. The police station and adjacent buildings suffered severe damage, with multiple vehicles engulfed in flames. The blast's intensity was so powerful that body parts were found in nearby houses, around 100-200 meters away. Most of the victims were police officers, along with forensic personnel, crime scene photographers, and a tailor. The Indian government's Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, expressed deep anguish and ordered an investigation into the cause of the explosion. This incident comes just days after a car blast in Delhi, which the government labeled as a 'terror incident'.
